Obstetrical Services
Drs. Brothers and Crochet understand that for most women pregnancy is a time of excitement, anticipation, and good health. Our goal is to guide you through a healthy pregnancy and a wonderful birth experience whenever possible. You will have the opportunity to meet and get to know our staff during your prenatal visits - approximately 13 visits in a normal pregnancy. We encourage spouses or other significant family members to attend any or all visits. Newly pregnant patients are encouraged to call our office immediately to schedule an orientation visit with our nurse. This confidential early visit will allow us to screen for any potential health issues that may impact the pregnancy and allow us to educate each patient on diet, exercise, use of over-the-counter medications, problem signs and potential workplace hazards. Drs. Brothers and Crochet typically meet with you at 10 weeks in your pregnancy for your first examination, a time at which your baby's heart beat can be heard. At each subsequent visit, the physicians and staff will answer your questions and assess your pregnancy progress to give you guidance for the weeks to come. We will discuss your personal birth desires, specifically addressing your choices for pain management in labor. Both Drs. Brothers and Crochet have special interest in natural (unmedicated) birth and will support you if this is what you choose.
A normal, healthy pregnancy and delivery is everyone's goal, yet we know that any pregnancy can become complicated and some births may not go as planned. Our expertise as Board Certified Obstetricians is providing care in these situations. Whether a problem exists prior to pregnancy, develops during pregnancy, or arises during labor, our skilled physicians and staff are available to meet your needs.
After delivery, postpartum care typically continues for six weeks. Patients are encouraged to call the office during this time for questions about breastfeeding and symptoms of postpartum depression, among other things. Four to six weeks after your delivery, your physician will examine you and discuss your adjustment to your new family and your family planning needs.
